Today I attended a Lunch & Learn: What are your predictions for Social Media in 2011? convened by the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City with the intent of finding out where I stand with application of the new technologies.
The meeting was well presented with a good agenda, and in my opinion, provided a good forum for many switched-on people. I was impressed by the drive of the individuals present and the range of applications used.
There were sales people, business owners, government staff, promoters, designers... and of course, a Real Estate Agent (me, the oldest person there by far). Individuals had their pet projects and fields of endeavor, and these were many and varied. They agreed that they needed to be good with what they were using, but to expect constant change.
I am intrigued with QR Codes and found others of like mind (especially a couple who had visited Japan and Europe, where the Codes are more in daily use than in Utah. I am now more motivated to have as an ongoing project this year their perfection and use.
Blogging will continue to be the major source of providing good content, Other than giving clients just a repeat of company information, blogs have to be used to interact with and instruct the client especially with information that they cannot easily obtain elsewhere.
I was happy to be part of today's energy. I believe that I was able to hold my own in a very progressive environment because of what I have experienced on ActiveRain and the ActiveRain University.over the last few months. I was cornered by several attending who asked specifically about blogging, with an emphasis on hyper local blogs and consistency. I know that even though my locality is Sandy, UT, by playing in ActiveRain I am in good company nationally and even internationally.
