Avast ye bloggin' mateys! Today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Started in 1995 by Oregon residents John "Ol' Chumbucket" Baur and Mark "Cap'n Slappy" Summers, TLAPD gained worldwide attention after columnist Dave Barry mentioned it in a 2002 article.
What does this have to do with real estate and blogging? Well, on the surface, not much. But if Mariana Wagner can draw inspiration from The Godfather for blog topics, I'm sure a few of us will find our own muses on the high seas that might make great ideas for Localism.
For example, on the Las Vegas Strip we have Treasure Island which features The Sirens of TI, a four-times-per-night battle that takes place at Sirens' Cove between the Sirens and the renegade Bull Ship Pirates. The Las Vegas Wedding Chapel offers a Pirate wedding package, or you can board the Black Pearl from Pirates of The Caribbean at Madame Tussauds.
Away from the neon and to the northwest portion of the valley you can find the Pirates Cove Condominiums. Over in Riverwalk Ranch Manor Estates in North Las Vegas, residents live on Gangplank Street, Pirate Ship Drive or Pirates Cave Court. Streets in Treasure Cove are named Black Beard Avenue, Pirates Island Street, Ruby Treasure Street and Treasure Ship Avenue.
Now that you've seen some examples, go sail the streets of your own community, and I'm sure you'll find some amazing tales of pirate adventure and hidden treasure. And once you've finished your blog, enjoy a nice cold pint of your favorite grog. But always remember blogging is a privelege and with it comes responsibility -- blog first, then grog!
And with one more tip of the cap to Mariana for her Blogging A-Z series, here's a short video from The Pirate Guys titled "The Five A's". Enjoy! Arrrrrr!
