When in Roane do as the Ronans!

Kim, what is there to do in Roane County?  Roane County is a small community, about 30 minutes from Knoxville. We're also convenient to Chattanooga, Nashville and the Great Smokey Mountains.  Many people move to this area because of the lakes and mountains. It's also a great place to raise a family.

Watts Bar Lake is a 39,000 acre lake that is great for fishing, skiing,  boating and more.  You can put your boat in Watts Bar Lake and sail all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.  We're within 30 minutes of great hiking trails.  Frozen Head State Park is a short drive and has 13,000 acres with 50+ miles of trails, you can also camp and fish for trout in the cold mountain streams. The Big South Fork Recreation area is about an hour away and boasts 125,000 acres, hiking trails, miles of scenic gorges and sandstone bluffs.  The Smoky Mountain National Park has 521,215 acres of lush woodland, with plenty of wildlife and elevations from 875 feet to 6643 feet. There are over 900 miles of hiking trails in the Smoky's.

There are three communities in Roane County and all have that hometown feel.  Harriman hosts  Hooray for Harriman, a Labor Day Festival.  Cruisin' is held the second Saturday of the month April-August the main street is a showcase for shiny antique cars and trucks.  The Haunted Ghost Tour, led through the historic district of town is held in October and the Historic Christmas Tour is early in December.  Rockwood and Kingston have their own unique festivals.

Whether you come for a visit or come to stay, we'd love to see you!

I'm sure that looks familiar to you.  That's the rock formation on Alum Cave. Daesha, Courtney and I hiked up to Mt. LeConte and spent the night.
