Paying It Forward: We Like Pushing People Around!!

Brenda, Tish and her daughter Cinnamon put us to shame with their community service, they're amazing folks.  When I first saw Tish's quote, asked to permanently borrow it!

Dan and Amy, We're pretty similar in our approaches.  Liz does the staging, marketing, etc, and I do more of the background work...well with the exception of getting in FRONT of the camera :)  And we're a bit biased too, but when Liz started getting busy years ago, it was easy to see this was work best done as a team and not as an individual, so here we are!  The videos will be interesting to get to, one more thing to carve out time for! :)

Cindy, Finding it the same way, a bit more of a challenge, and the interaction opportunities are more limited as far as person to person.  We'll probably keep doing the posts, but that will be a month by month evaluation.

Ssssssynthia, I remember that post!  Just don't miss the deadline!

AB, I agree, the community seems to operate with the Pay It Forward concept at work.  We've never had a question we asked NOT answered, and over the last couple of days, people have volunteered information and time to make us better at video!  How cools is that??  And you can bet we'll keep "bullying"! :)

Christine, I think it was a domino effect!  AR/Kodak pushed us, and that tripped a whole bunch of others to start.  You have to love how it all works!

Scott, I think we all know the payoff can be huge, especially if there's a scarcity of others in your area using video.  Looking forward to your movies :)

Michelle, We can do better on the video, have gotten some good tips yesterday/today that we'll work on, and Liz feels the same way as you about being in front of the camera, even still shots!  I'll try to get her in front a few times if possible, but I may wind up being the designated "talking head" :)  Bill

Ginny, Thanks!  And we have others pushing us too, love it!  Tim Maitski suggested we tweak our maps to clarify our service area, so hopped on that yesterday and fixed our profile map, blog signature map and embedded the html code on our main website, so hopefully the non-local folks will have a clearer understanding of where we are :)  And as for video, heading out now to experiment :)

Joyce, It's certain a tightrope.  Part of me says perform the works silently, but ultimately I think Tish's quote has it right, and adding that to the end hopefully makes it clear to everyone what our true intent of these posts are.

For the map question:  Google Maps, basically made a custom map, then used Jing software to copy and make a png file (a photo/bitmap format) for our signature block and profile block.  For our website, we embedded the Google code to make it an interactive map.  Unfortunately the little star attempts over Cincinnati & Dayton shifted off center a bit.

To make and save the map, just open up a Google account.  Click on the Maps function.  There's a tutorial on how to make them and more.  I still have a little issue getting it to show exactly what I want first try :)
