Pushing Out of Your Comfort Zone

On Facebook today I saw a few comments from unrelated friends about how success is tied to working outside your comfort zone. In my DISC class being classified as a "Hi S," that is one of our biggest fears. Some days are easier than others but everything changes, doesn't it?

I'm sure as agents one of your toughest things to do is the cold call. Or, how about making videos..I hope to venture into that soon. We are our own worst critics.

A little-known fact about myself: I was terrified of driving and did not get my license until I was 30 years old. I finally had to face the fact that I had a 5-year-old son, and if anything happened to him I wanted to be able to run him to the emergency room immediately, as opposed to waiting on someone. So the fear of that pushed me into getting my license and a car. That was 15 years ago.

Don't wait on fear as a motivater. Push toward that success.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend! -Lynda

I am coming out of my comfort zone with with cold calling.  This is a must.  I am talking myself into it because it can't kill me.  I have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Great motivational blog post Lynda! And thanks for subscribing! I appreciate the opportunity! It IS about working outside your comfort zone. I HATE talking on the phone... I could email all day long... but I am pushing myself more this year in not being afraid of literally letting my  voice be heard! :)

What an great post, Lynda!  Getting out of my comfort zone is just so ... UNCOMFORTABLE!  But necessary in this business.

But like you, I've found that I'm more willing to try what I'm uncomfortable with if it will help someone else!  So, how do you feel about driving now?  Are you completely at ease with it or does it still bother you?

Melanie, sometimes it doesn't bother me; sometimes it does..I had a huge wreck in 1999, but went right back to driving with no problem. I had a minor fender-bender back around Christmas and now I'm halfway scared again! But I do it anyway.
