Kodak Video Challenge...John McCarthy Your Seacoast NH REALTOR Highlights The Chase Home for Children in Portsmouth, NH

Originally founded in 1877, The Chase Home for Children, now located at 698 Middle Road in Portsmouth, NH, cared for children of widowed Seacoast NH sea captains who may have spent as long as two years at sea. Today, The Chase Home for Children is an adolescent residential program for children ages 12 to 19, providing services and support for kids. Children at The Chase Home attend public schools, enroll in driver training, and take part in the Outward Program, a special program that improves self confidence, self image and self reliance.

The below video interview with Katy McDermott, Executive Director for The Chase Home for Children, is a highlight in my recent series of hyper-local posts that focus on organizations helping children and families in Seacoast, NH. I hope you take a few minutes to familiarize yourselves with the incredible work these folks do, and I'm sure you will appreciate why I support their goals.

The Chase Home for Children relies on grants, donations and fundraising to continue its work in the Seacoast NH community. Stan - Thank you for stopping by! I have enjoyed all the posts I have done lately that feature organizations helping kids. I plan to keep doing these until I run out of organizations here on the Seacoast. Even if I can't attend some of these, I feel that I am still helping to raise awareness for their causes.

Roy - Your warm wishes are always appreciated! I am happy you stopped by to find out a little bit about this organization.

Sharon - I am connected somehow to each and every one of these organizations I have featured in my recent posts. Because of these connections, I feel a personal obligation to help support their efforts, and AR is the best platform I know. My immediate connection in this case is my Chris, who sits on the Board of Directors at The Chase Home for Children. I would like to offer a special thanks to my longtime friend Executive Director Katy McDermott for graciously accomodating my last minute request for this interview. BTW, there is an upcoming fundraising event to benefit The Chase Home for Children which will be sponsored by Flatbread Pizza in Portsmouth, NH. You probably see where I'm going here - of course I will be writing a blog post on that event as well and helping them get more exposure! Thank you!

Dawn - The video thing for me is a work-in-progress, but I won this video challenge anyway, because I got a chance to raise awareness and support the efforts of The Chase Home for Children. The "brick and mortar" facility can accomodate 17 residential kids, but it is home base for their larger Outreach Program which touches the lives of a great many families by offering individual and family counseling services and temporary respite accomodations to provide "space" for kids when needed. As Katy said, The Chase Home for Children has helped thousands of children since its inception. Thank you for supporting me in my efforts to highlight these organizations.
