My Dad Is One Of God's Miracles!

It's been a while since I've written an update about my Dad's progress.  Some of you know, but for those that don't....Dad spent 7 long months in the hospital.  He was in SICU at Trinity Medical Center for 46 1/2 days, then 4 months in acute care at Select Specialty Hospital to wean him off the respirator, and another 4 weeks at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital before finally getting to go home in late October, just a couple of months after his 83rd birthday!

I took these photos Friday when we went to the hospital for a swallow test (this time he was cleared to have any foods he wants....with caution).  While he was there he went back to the 9th floor and got to visit with some of the staff that cared for him when he was really sick.  They were amazed to see how well he is doing!  It was the first time they had seen him when he wasn't wearing a hospital gown.

He used a wheelchair for this trip, but only because the distance traveling from his appointment to see his friends on the other end of the hospital is so far.  He does quite well with his walker and enjoys going to church and eating out at his favorite restaurants.

Really awesome, amazing to hear a recovery story, but also so nice to see and hear about how the healthcare people sincerely cared.  That is awesome too.

I'm glad to hear your dad is doing well.  I'm sure his spirt and will to live had a lot to do with his recovery.  May you have many more blessed years ahead.

Ann,  What a wonderful story to share.  I love that he went back to say hello.  Caregivers do get attached to those they care for and to see them doing well is a reward in itself.  Your photos are just great.  And your dad, does indeed look well.  Thanks for sharing

Ann, Praise God that he is doing well and recovering.  What a long time for all of you, and to now be able to see the progress is awesome.  So nice of you all to go back and see those that helped him in the hospital!
