Google Dumps Real Estate Listings. In December Google announced that they would no longer be adding real estate listings to google maps but at that time they scheduled the change to be in July 2011. Well, those dates have changed.
On February 10, 2011 Google Maps will stop showing real estate listings from Google Base.On June 1, 2011 Google will discontinue Google Base. Most of the products built on the API of Google Base will be moved to a Google Shopping API. But they will no longer support real estate listings.Google Maps will still work and Google said that Realtors® who use Google Maps to put their listings on will still work and they encourage agents and companies that have this data to continue to place their listings on Google Maps. This means that if you put your listings on Google Maps and you put that Google Map on your website, it will work. You can do this. You can add your listings to Google Maps and have those maps on your blogs and websites. This also means that your Realbird Property Websites will still work. The maps on those websites will still work. That also means that all your SOLD property maps will still work on Realbird. The Realbird Listing Publisher is not affected by these changes. The Realbird Property Search is affected by this change. However, Zoltan and Gabe are very smart innovators and they are creating a new data solution. Realbird had a meeting yesterday with Google and although Realbird knew this was coming down the pipeline Google pushed up the date to stop Google Base sooner than they originally had said. But I am confident that Zoltan and Gabe will have a solution before June 1st. Until June 1st you can still use your Realbird property search. It is working fine. We just got two more buyer leads from Realbird Property Search today!
