Pay it Forward - Sometimes its the Little Things We Do That Matter
After a couple days of frigid weather without driving my car, I got into it and attempted to start it with no luck. The key wouldn't turn the ignition. Things seemed to be locked in place from the cold. No matter what I tried I couldn' get the key to budge. In frustration I called my hubby for help and followed some of his suggestions.
Nothing seemed to work but just as I was about to give up somehow things corrected themselves (maybe all the hot air I was releasing from my frustations) and I was able to start my car. I felt an abnormal sense of relief that my problem was solved and gratitude to my husband for his patience and help. He of coarse thought he hadn't done anything much and that got me thinking.....
Several days prior, my neighbor anxiously knocked on my door asking for my help. Her son had driven her car home from a recent trip to the city and had adjusted the driver side mirrors accordingly. When she next got into her car to drive it, she couldn't readjust the mirrors; they seemed to be stuck in place and just wouldn't budge. I figured it might need a little manual help adjusting it from the outside of the car since things might just be stuck in place from the cold and... I was right. We got things reset just the way she liked them. She was a happy camper and good to go.
I didn't think much of it - it was just a little thing to do;, but when you're the one that needs that little thing done, that little thing that someone does for you, does matter. So next time you have the opportunity to pay if forward in a small way, remember that you may be making a big difference in someones life with the little things you do.
