Everyone knows that real estate is a competitive industry especially these days, but usually it is competitive in a business sense, not on the freeway! I was recently driving on the highway and one of my local competitors cut me off! As you can imagine, I wasn't pleased. No directional light or anything and cut right in front of me to get to an oncoming off ramp.
How did I know it was my competitor driving you ask? Well the vehicle was marked with their business name and logo. Many agents do this for free mobile marketing and for tax purposes.
This got me thinking about the little white signs on
the back of 18 wheelers that say "How's My Driving" Call
1-800-BAD-DRVR to report," yup you guessed it, bad driving.
Alas, real estate agents don't usually have these bumper stickers so I
figured I
would vent on Active Rain instead. Of course I don't expect too many
people to sympathize, but venting still somehow makes you feel good,
doesn't it?

Well you will be glad to know that I'm over it now! This incident did made me think about how all of our actions as real estate professionals, whether during or after business hours, online or in the real world can impact our real estate business either positively or negatively.
Think about it. If I was a potential future client
of that agent I might have made it a point not to ever use that agent
because of what happened on the road. Lesson learned, if you
are going to advertise your business on your vehicle don't drive
carelessly and anger other drivers! What if it wasn't that agent
driving the vehicle at the time? It doesn't matter who was
driving. Their actions could reflect negatively on the company or
agent advertised on the vehicle.
This lessons can be applied to any other actions in life that may be viewed as negative by consumers.
Everything we do in life can impact our professional reputation and you never know who might be watching!
