By

Lavender is a those plant that does well in our Central/Southern California gardens, as it blooms year round.  It is also grown commercially and has a wide variety of uses: spa and beauty products, anxiety relieving capsules and sleep aids,(Germany) soaps and oils, a  moth repellent i and culinary uses.  It is also known to have antiseptic qualities, and during World War II, it was used to disinfect hospital walls and floors.  The Provence region of France is famous for it lavender fields, and there lavender is considered to the the cure all among some of the populace.  In our travels, we have found lavender fields in the Napa/Sonoma Valley, Santa Ynez Valley, Wahington State, etc.

Lavender is also sold at our delightful Farmers' Market, where Ron took this picture.  Happy Sunday, Ron & Alexandra

Aahh, I love the scent of lavender!  I like to keep a small plant on my bedside table--it is a wonderful sleep aid and it looks pretty too.

Norma,

Yes it is as it relaxes you, and aramotherapists use lavender oli in a massage to relax their clients.  I love when our cats rub up against the plants, they smell so good when they come back home.  A

Ron and Alexandra- I love lavender... as a color, scent and plant.  I had a lavender plant when we lived outside DC but will have to see if it's too hot for them here in South Florida!  Beautiful shot!

Kathy,

Me too, there all types of colors in the lavender family.  I have seen deep plum colors, pale purples and intense purples.  The leaves have different patterns with lacy looking leaves and colors ranging from sage greens to deep greens.  My favorite are all the varieties.  A

Ann,

Thank you, and I will pass the compliment to Ron.

Toni,

Sorry about that, however Florida has some exquisite orchids and other plants we don't get to enjoy here.  Thant is why it is fun to travel, and see each other's marketplaces.  A
