Mel & Gretchen: I can remember as a teenager that a friend of mine had one of these airplanes. I think at that time they were on some sort of a long super-strong string, almost like a fishing line. There was a hand control, and of course it was nowhere near as maneuverable as this one being radio-controlled... but it was fun nonetheless.

Club members have told Sam stories of learning to fly using the equipment you described. Many of the club members have been RC flying for 30-40 years, some over 50 years. It is fun to listen to all of the stories and Sam really enjoys hearing them.
