Take a moment to read an excellent post by Sally.

There is a million reason that people choose not to blog but there one great reason to blog, IT WORKS.

Good luck and success.

Now I know why ActiveRain doesn't bring their Raincamp to Hawaii. There will be minimal people who will attend because they DON'T blog!  I can guarantee that 90% of real estate industry peers in Hawaii I have come in contact with do not blog. After almost four years on ActiveRain i wonder why only a few see the significance of blogging.

Why?

Reasons?

  • I don't have the time.  You mean you don't have time to invest in the biggest part of marketing that your business needs?  It's additional exposure while giving the consumer a piece of who you are and you are growing with the times!  87% (maybe more) home buyers and sellers go online to search for a Realtor® and that includes Hawaii residents too!
  • I don't know what blogging is about. It's writing about your local area (you are the local expert, right?), what you know about real estate, market reports and keeping the public informed on what's going on in our local market. You connect with other peers and network online. You connect with the consumer who is reading about YOU...the person. It's your own personal ‘web page' where you're talking WITH everyone....not talking AT them.
  • I don't know how to write.  You write the way you would speak to a potential client!  If you can sell yourself on the phone or face to face with someone then you can write.  You write as if you are walking alongside someone and having a conversation with them. When you write about a restaurant, bowling alley or just the sites on one of our beautiful islands you write how you felt, the experience and so forth. Again, if you can talk...you can write.

I wrote about my last ‘experience' about non bloggers in the Hawaii Real Estate Industry in Supporting our Peers in the World of Blogging.  I was proud of being a blogger and this was the first time I was the ‘go to gal' for blogging. They ‘needed' me to fill in their spot on their sheet for a ‘agent who blogs' and who to network with. I then spoke to them for a few minutes about blogging.

I did invite a few of them to ActiveRain.

None of them accepted.....yet.

One day ActiveRain RainCamp will make it to Oahu.

Until then, I guess I'll reap the rewards.

Lou,

A great choice for a re-blog. Sally pretty well summed it up for many people.

It works and when people realize (or accept the proof) they will get onboard!

Thanks for the repost.

Blogging is a pain.

It took me two years to decide to get into the fray.
