The beautiful fountain in front of Stonebridge Ranch Country Club was turned into something other-worldly during McKinney's few days of snow earlier this month.

One passerby said it brought to mind a tiered cake dripping with sweet frosting. Another said it sparkled like a crystal chandelier.

What comes to your mind?

We're so lucky here in our area that we can enjoy some of the beauty of winter without the challenges that come from weeks of snow on the ground. In the next couple days we here in McKinney will get another opportunity! Get ready, the cold air is coming!

That is such a great picture... you were there just at the right time and at the right place to capture such a gorgeous picture. Does this happen every year to the fountian at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club... or was this a lucky find? Either way thanks for sharing this amazing photo with us!

P.S. It looks like an ice sculpture from a movie set that someone took hours to make! Great Shot!

Hi Linda: We had a wonderful weekend of snow a few weeks ago and I just happened upon the fountain when I was taking photos of the area. Had never seen the fountain like this.

Hi Bruce: It rarely gets that cold for that long here, but this time, the air stayed cold for several days and kept the snow on the ground much longer than our usual day or two.

Melanie, Sadly, we've had lots of those icicles that are all over the place in abundance. By now, they're more worrisome than beautiful. Hope they don't do too much damage to gutters and roofs and people.

Hi Lisa: You know, our winters are generally mild -- we only get a freezing temperatures a couple days out of the year, so, maybe they were just caught off guard.
