Droid Update

By

Here's the first in what I'm sure will be a long line of updates on the new piece of technology.  I can't just call the Droid a phone, because it's way beyond that.  I've only had it for 3 days, and I haven't even scratched the surface of it's capabilities.

Just a quick example of what it can do.  I was looking for a phone number to a local tire store over the weekend, and was blown away at how easy it was to find it.  The Droid has built in GPS, so it already knows where you are.  You just open the web browser, type in your search, and just like on a computer, it pulls up the most popular site for your search.  What makes it better though, is this will also let you call the business by simply tapping the phone number on the screen.  I was literally talking to the shop in less than 2 minutes from the time I started the search.

I haven't had a lot of time to browse for real estate aps, but I did notice that Realtor.com had an ap for the Droid.  When I activated the phone, I was also told that there were several aps for realtors.  I will update you with whatever I find, and pass it along.

Thanks for coming with me on this new journey into this cool new frontier.

Oh Darn, Todd.  I saw the headline and hoped this would be a post about the cute little droids from the Star Wars movies.  It's so disappointing.  LOL.

By the way... what a great profile picture you have.  Your family... your beautiful wife and your two adorable daughters... you are a lucky man indeed.  Can you tell... I really like the picture ?  A great choice !

I have been holding off on the Droid until Alltel carried it but I hear they have one now so I better check on it. Not sure I have read any disappointments with a Droid. Thanks Todd.

Drooling over the Droid!

I switched carriers when I bought mine, so I gave myself a month to learn all the features before using it as a phone. On mine you can just speak the name of the business and all this happens!

These phones can be a bit overwhelming.  There is so much that they do.

Have fun with your Droid, Todd.

Android is a pretty cool OS.

The app I use more than I ever thought I would?

The flashlight.

I can't wait to see your future posts...I'm just starting to learn some of it's features.  Mike mentioned a flashlight...I'm going to have to check that one out.  Thanks for sharing. DJ
