Handling Two Kinds Of Negative Emotional Energy
Emotions are going to happen. They just do. They erupt from our core from our values, what is important to us, our perception of the world and people, and even how the way we think "things ought to be." That said, to make peace in two areas with the negative emotional energy we need not climb to the top of the highest mountain and chant prayers all day or meditate with a vow of silence. Two tips in each area:
Other people - recognize another person's negative energy inflicted on you is THEM hurting inside, some DEEP or historic pain on their part and most importantly you can't control it, them, or even make them change. ONLY THEY can do that. Put this category into your out of control bucket and from this day forward have complete serenity with them.
Yourself and your own negative emotional energy - this area is a very tough one cause first emotions inside us JUST HAPPEN as I said earlier. It is what you do with them, maturing into a peaceful being that you ultimately want to be, that is key. So secondly, after they happen, what do you do? We hold negative energy INSIDE if we don't let it dissipate somehow. It will gnaw at you, eat you inside, make you downright unhealthy, you will be apt to lash out at the offender of you. Negative emotional energy can come from change, loss of what used to be, any number of life experiences "that hit you hard." It can immobilize you, make you feel sorry for yourself, be angry, respond with blame, have guilt, wallow in your misery. What you need to do with INTERNAL negative emotional energy is two things, allow time for healing with a this to shall pass thought calming yourself down and next channeling the negative energy into something, anything, creative moving forward. Do not get stuck holding on to negative emotional energy. It takes lots and lots of energy to do this.
Redirect negative energy into being creative. Do something going forward with ACTION. It is not getting your mind OFF something like with distraction but more getting your mind INTO GEAR where it is meant to be doing something POSITIVE. Kind of like negative emotional energy is a spot YOU DO NOT WANT TO DWELL IN. By being able to do this INTERNALLY with yourself the conscious mind reminds the emotional center who is really in charge. YOU ARE. You are in self-control.
Don't let other people bother you (at least not for long), cause what they are doing is out of your control, and with the internal stuff come back to self-mastery of YOU once you tripped up yourself with your own negative emotional energy and shake it off. Smile and have a great attitude and actually SURPRISE the world around you in how you react SO DIFFERENTLY to its attempts to bring you down. I like the story of the donkey that fell in the well. BE DIFFERENT. Different is very good in the world. And we need you to SHOW OTHERS THE WAY TO LIVE!!!
The Donkey and the Well
One day a farmer´s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn´t worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone´s amazement, he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer´s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off.
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well, is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step upward!
