Healthy 2011 - Having a Partner Can Really Help!
My daughter is always saying that she's a "people person" and hates to take a walk or bike ride alone. She says she is more motivated by having someone around. (That's her excuse, anyway) And of course, her parents are too boring, so we don't count. Figures.
However, here we are into a new year and a large majority of folks take a look at their diet and exercise regime - especially in this winter months. Santa brought my husband a new bowflex for Christmas, and in the past two weeks we've started working out together.
We've always walked regularly, except in high summer, and with the purchase of my new bike over Christmas, we've putting that into the fitness routine as well.
And I have to admit - it is fun to work out with a partner -- I can see that he's happy to have me a part of the process. We're spending quality time together, working for a healthier tomorrow. I do like to take my solitary walks as well, but I can get those in during the early morning hours.
Do you have someone to exercise with? A neighbor, a friend, a significant other? Talk them into joining you! It's a great time for communication with some healthy side effects. If all else fails, put your cordless headset on and visit old friends via the telephone while you're walking.
Whatever your motivation - exercise is vital for healthy living. And, as always, consult your doctor before beginning a diet or exercise routine.
