I Don't Get No Respect in Lynchburg VA

This idea came to mind after I read Tni LeBlanc's post.  I have paid my dues.  Before I went into real estate, I had spent over 20 years in other financial services industries.  I went with Dawson Ford Garbee in Lynchburg VA because of the training offered.  At the time, we had a full-time trainer on staff.  I spent approximately two months in training before I could even do an open house.  Since then, I attend most every workshop sponsored by the Lynchburg Board.  I repeat I have paid my dues and yet customers (not clients) don't show for appointments, do not call to cancel, and don't answer the phone when I call them.  I am advocating for a show "Day in the Life of a Realtor."  The NAR has been promoting the profession but I don't think the public realizes how much time we spend before showing up at that open house or before meeting with a potential buyer or how many gallons of gas we use with no commission payment to compensate.  Any actors available?

I think this is a great idea.  No matter how many ads are placed, how many rules are put into effect or how much we council our clients, THEY DON'T GET IT!  Half of them still think we get paid just for showing houses, or that our office pays for our expenses.  A reality show (since that is what everyone is watching) would be perfect!

Don't use actors in the show, use real people.  Actors can leave the set, turn off the phones, take vacations and miss meetings.....I'd love that schedule.

All best,
