Dave Bender tells us about a great place to visit in Northern Virginia. We visited the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center last year and highly recommend it to you.

Living in the Washington DC area provides access to good schools, concert events, world class museums and many cultural activities.  One of the most popular is the National Air and Space Museum, part of the Smithsonian Institution. The Smithsonian is the worlds largest museum and research complex, home to 19 museums, the National Zoo and many art galleries.

National Air and Space MuseumIn 2003, the Smithsonian opened the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center as an extension of the National Air and Space Museum.  The primary location is on Independence Ave in the city.  However, the Steven F Udavr Hazy Center is located on the grounds of Washington Dulles International Airport and houses one of the largest array of aircraft in the world.  The museum wanted a large enough facility to house the Space Shuttle, Stealth Bomber, the Concorde and dozens of other aircraft, both recent designs and early model airplanes.  The famous Enola Gay is also located here!

As a Realtor in the area, I try to help my clients know the area and find out all the terrific features of living in this great region.  Most of my clients purchase homes in the suburbs and I think tend to forget all the things to do in the area.  I have always wanted to go to this museum, so last week my wife, daughter and I went to check it out.  Parking is $15, however admission to the museum is free.

Please enjoy the photographs; lighting in the museum hanger was rather dark, so my apologies for many of the photos.  I have many more pictures, but only have space to post a few.
