What Makes a Historic House Historic?
The definition of historic house is:
A historic house can be a stately home, the birthplace of a famous person or a house with an interesting history or architecture. (Wikipedia)
Having, or likely to have, lasting significance or importance. (Webster)
My market area, Harriman, TN has a unique area of homes in Historic Cornstalk Heights. Most were built in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. These stately homes were well built and have lasted many years and will probably last for many years to come. They come in all different sizes but most are two stories, some are three stories, some have basements and some do not. Most are on small lots. Cornstalk Heights is within walking distance to parks, schools, churches, downtown Harriman and more.
Cornstalk Heights has been recognized by the national magazine "This Old House" for "Best Old House Neighborhoods" 2010.
