Adding the BlogRush Traffic Builder to your ActiveRain blog: Step-by-Step

By

A few people having problems getting BlogRush onto their blogs have asked me for some help... If you need it too, here it is:

To add BlogRush to your ActiveRain blog, here are the steps:

  1. Open a browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, whichever) and go to the BlogRush site (http://www.blogrush.com/r92794589).
  2. Open another browser and login to ActiveRain.
  3. On the BlogRush site: Signup.  During the signup process, they'll show you a block of javascript code to put on your blog. It should look something like this (note that they are all unique, so be sure not to use mine!).

    Note: If you signed up and moved right past that code, you can see it again by logging into BlogRush.  As soon as I log in, it shows me a page ("Step 5") that has that code on it.  If you instead see the "Dashboard" click on the black "Get Code" button toward the top of the page.

    <script type="text/javascript"><!--
    blogrush_feed = "20156217";
    //--></script>
    <script type="text/javascript"
      src="http://widget.blogrush.com/show.js">
    </script>

  4. "Select" and then "Copy" the code that was shown to you in Step 1 above.
  5. Log in to Active Rain.  Click on the "My Home" link at the top of the page.
  6. In the left-hand side navigation, click on "My Settings"
  7. On the "My Settings" page, there is a section labeled "Blog Description:"  use this one, NOT the "Blog Description Text:" one.  It must be the "Blog Description:".
  8. After the blog description that you have provided (if any) Paste the code block you got from BlogRush.  Click the 'Update' button to save your changes.
  9. Go back to the page on BlogRush where you got the script.  This part was odd for me -- on BlogRush there is a button that you click after you install the code.  For some reason, when I did that, it kept showing me that same page.  I just clicked the "SKIP" link at the bottom of the page, and finished up.
  10. That's it!  If you go to your ActiveRain blog, you should see the BlogRush widget in the right-hand side of the page, below your picture!

Missy - I'm not aware of a good WordPress tutorial for BlogRush.  Did you try to search for it on Google?
