With the trouble in Egypt all over the news it reminded me of a lead I received a few months ago from our IDX website. We have many user's register under false names and number's but this one was really unusual. Cairo, Egypt was the address of registered user. We never have had a foreigner register and search for Real Estate in Salt Lake City before so I wasn't expecting much when I dialed the number. A groggy voice answered with hello, who is this? I preceded to say my name and that I was a Real Estate Agent in Utah and had noticed that they had be looking at homes for sale in Salt Lake City. I believe the whole introduction took less than 30 seconds and I waited for a reply. The polite voice on the other end informed me that she was indeed living in Cairo, Egypt and the time was 3am. I apologized and the voice asked me to email her. I sent out a apology in my email and received a reply that they were American citizens living in Cairo and had just received a job transfer to Salt Lake City to work for Boeing. They wanted to find a home in South Jordan or Draper. They were not sure of the arrival and only knew it would be before June, hopefully sooner. I emailed back homes for sale and set up a hotsheet for new listings. I knew they were logging in periodically to check new listings that had been sent but for the most part I was letting our automation take care of business and had forgotten about them. Then the Crisis and all the trouble started last week in Egypt. Anderson Cooper live from Cairo. Cairo, that name set something off and I immediately sent a email expressing my concern for there safety. I received a reply the next day. Egypt was in trouble, it was scary for everyone especially Americans. They were leaving as soon as arrangements could be made. Thank you for your concern. We will be in Salt Lake soon and need will need your help locating a home in Salt Lake. I don't know if anything will come of this. I do hope that they are able to arrive safely in the USA and that the trouble in Egypt can be resolved without anymore lives lost. I haven't heard from them in over a week but I have a strong feeling I should spend a day or two previewing houses in South Jordan and Draper this week.
