From Henderson Middle School PTA: Redistricting and Consolidation Update
Many, many of you in the Lakeside/Henderson cluster participated in meetings, wrote letters, discussed alternative plans, made phone calls and helped spread the word about the DCSS redistricting and consolidation plans.
Thank you to each and every one of you for showing your interest in the educational plans being made for our children in DeKalb County.
A group of representatives from most, if not all, schools in the Henderson/Lakeside cluster have proposed an alternative plan that allows for all students currently in the feeder pattern to remain in the feeder pattern.
This plan is referred to as the SCORe alternative plan (Super Cluster Optimized Re-Districting) and is receiving tremendous support from the community.
If you are interested in learning about the details of this plan, please check out the SCORe Plan website at www.scoreplan.org.
If you support this plan, you may sign the petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/scoreplan/ which will be presented to DCSS, the consulting firm revising the proposals, and the Board of Education.
Recommendations for redistricting and consolidation of schools in DeKalb will be made to the Board of Education on this coming Monday, February 7.
