Snow Day at the Lake!!!

snow day at the lake

After several days of below freezing temperatures (which is not normal for Canyon Lake Texas) we awoke today to a Winter Wonderland and an official “Snow Day” with the kids home from school, businesses closed and roads closed.

Canyon Lake Texas is a rural resort community on the Guadalupe River in the Hill Country region.  We are used to highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s this time of year.  So everyone gets excited when the temps dip and even more so when the white stuff from above covers our area.

It has been a fun day of fireplaces, hot chocolate, snow play, video games and of course madly posting snow pix on Facebook to share with our family and friends!  We are silly, I know!  Those of you who live with these conditions every winter and in much more quantity than we got today probably find our reactions comical.  But that is okay, because we don’t get out much! :)

Love your pictures and glad you and the community are getting to enjoy it.

I'd venture to say that the folks in South Dakato are a bit weary of the white stuff.  I can't even imagine when this all melts!

So glad Canyon Lake woke up to winter wonderland. Normally Dallas would share the joy too. Only today I have no passion for that white stuff after four days of deep freeze. We have sunshine for the moment and it is a grand sight to see especially with those icles dripping!

Snow and Texas are two words I don't expect to see together!  Glad you are enjoying it.  If you had as much as we have this winter, you wouldn't be smiling . . .

That's the kind of weather that I would procure a nice new pair of After Ski Boots, and sit beside the fire, inside the lodge, with something warm to drink:-)  Love the last picture of kids sledding down their driveway!

Sue~Yeah, I feel for those folks!  I have friends in Iowa and they are sick of the mess!!!

Teral~We have had three days of sub freeze temps and I am tired of it!  Ready for sunshine and normal seasonal temps to return!!! :)

Richard~Yeah, kind of rare here!  We tend to have ice storms more than snow, but the kids loved it and it was fun to see them play and have so much fun!

Myrl~I am SO with you on that thought! :)  The kids had a blast!!!

Jeani - Snow in Texas - it can't be?! I'm beginning to wonder about this whole global warming thing! Especially since in NJ we have a snow/ice storm every other day! Enjoy - it won't last long!
