Just looked back in my notebook that I have sitting right beside my computer and noticed I've been pretty good at writing down everything I eat, for a full week! Actually for almost 2 weeks!
No, I'm not writing down what the calories are for every item, just the items. On the recommendation of a fellow Realtor on the other side of the Mountains, in Missoula Montana, I ordered a book by Darren Hardy called "The Compound Effect, Multiplying Your Success, One Simple Step At A Time".
The particular step I'm working on is just keeping stats, just like a baseball/softball player gets for hits/runs/errors and the other 20 things we try to keep track of to account for what we do.
It made sense to me that to develop a habit, you need to try to do the thing it is you want to work on, little bits at a time, over and over, probably for weeks.
Since I've always been a "fly by the seat of my pants" kind of gal, this is quite a challenge. My husband is a man of routines (probably why I need him in my life so much), I've always thought he was the earth, and I'm the clouds rolling around above the earth (reach out and touch my hand babe).
I'm trying to figure out what I will be putting on my "food list" this weekend?
I've made sure to instruct my hubby to stop by one of our local micro brews Angry Hanks and pick up a few growlers (liter jars) for the Super Bowl. Now if I can be true and count the number of beers (don't worry, tv is at home so no driving), will I be better off with thin crust veggie pizza or should I just do the bean and cheese dip?
I'm just telling myself that a local product, made in Billings Montana, is much healthier than one shipped from Denver, home of the Bronco's.
