How Big is High School Football in Texas? It's SUPER-SIZED!

For those of you who may not know, we Texans take our "Friday Night Lights"-esque High School Football games pretty seriously!

In fact, due to the crazy weather we are having during Super Bowl week, the Green Bay Packers were not able to work out at the SMU practice field because the private college does not have an indoor practice area.  Instead, they were taken to the Highland Park High School indoor practice facility.  Highland Park is a 5-A school with a strong Varsity football program, as well as excellent academic ratings.

Not too far North from Highland Park, Lovejoy High School is a 3-A school with state-of-the-art indoor practice facilities as well.  It's just one of the many advantages that students and athletes enjoy in this school district serving the communities of Lucas and Fairview, Texas.

If you are searching for an exemplary school system in the North Texas area for your children, Lovejoy is worthy of consideration.  Should you need help in finding a home in the Lovejoy ISD, please give me a call.  I'll be glad to help!

That's interesting.

I'm from Michigan, and while I know the weather isn't that fantastic right now in Texas, I've always stereotyped Texas weather as warm. I would have never guessed they had indoor facilities for the high schools.

Hi Jason - the indoor facilities were in fact built to protect the athletes from the extremely hot weather!  They just happen to come in handy on the handful of cold-weather days, too.

I am a full fledged Colorado gal now, but I went to high school in TX.  Our school district got an astroturf field, (we were told the 3rd in the world) in the early 70's, for HIGH SCHOOL boys to play on...They did not calculate how incredibly hot that stuff gets in the TX heat, and the field temps were sometimes over 100 in the FALL! Crazy...
