The National Building Museum is in the old Pension Building, constructed after the Civil War. It's now the site of great exhibits about architecture, engineering and urban planning. It's also used for a lot of fun stuff, like Presidential inaugural balls and other festive events. The also give classes on, among other things, local architectural styles.
If you are a Realtor (or anyone else) planning a trip to Washington, DC, this is a great place to visit. It's located at 401 F Street NW near the Gallery Place Metro. It's open between 10:00 am and 5 pm.
