Want a Preview Into What the Future Will Be Under the Current and Proposed Energy Policies? Its Starting Now!

Real Estate Agent with Lanier Partners

Just take a look at some of today's headlines and read the stories.

NM declares state of emergency over natural gas shortage... - the state government has shut down services and is asking schools to close because there is not enough natural gas for heating.

Rolling blackouts for hundreds of thousands in TX...texans are having to put up with rolling blackouts and lack of heating because of natural gas shortages

Outage in AZ...Tucson, Phoenix and other areas in Arizona are without heat because of shortages of natural gas supply

SHELL oil postpones drilling in Arctic; Dem Sen. blames White House...  as gas has soard to over $3 a gallon and is predicted to break $4 with estimates as high as $5 this year, drilling and exploration permits are being rescinded, stalled, put on hold, etc.In the meantime, the cost of oil per barrel has hit $93 a barrel and will soon break the $100 dollar level again. And turmoil in the middle east threatens the worlds supply.

What's the common theme here? A shortage of fuel to heat homes and power industry. But guess what, there is no shortage. There is plenty of natural gas around. There is plenty of oil around. We are just not allowed to access it.

In New Mexico, former governor Richardson put a moratorium on new gas exploration and drilling. Obama has shut down exploration and some drilling in the gulf. This administration, and previous administrations, have made it harder and harder for U.S. companies to take advantage of our own natural resources while we are supposed to develop alternate means of energy production.

And now the EPA, under the direction of the administration, is developing and implementing more rules that will make it even harder for companies to use our own resources. As a result, we will suffer not only from cold and heat, but higher prices for food and other commodities. Additionally, this very fragile economic recovery that we are on could very easily stall and reverse itself.

We need quick action now, to allow companies to tap into our huge supplies of natural gas, to take advantage of our petroleum deposits, whether shale or drilling, to increase our nuclear capacity, to utilize current technologies, including coal. And yes, we should simultaneously be developing economically alternate methods for providing energy.

And the sad part, all of these rules, all of these restrictions on energy exploration and use, will do little or nothing to curb any climate change or warming, even if it is partially man-caused, but will have tremendous negative economic impacts. We are just starting to feel those impacts. It will only get worse in the future if we continue with these failing policies.

Its time for the government to get their collective heads out of their collective posteriors and face reality. Or do they really want us to to back to the stone age.

I see a huge price bump in our future.  People have said that gasoline can't go to $5 a gallon because the economy can't handle it.  Yea right....it will go there reguardless and even higher if something isn't done and soon.

Maybe, just maybe, we should drill here and build a power plant once in a great while.

I think the Obama regime is accomplishing exactly what they want. They aren't that stupid, they know what the consequences of their policies will be.

I agree with Jon, that Obama does not want what is best for our country and he is getting just what he wants.  Why we all just let him get away with it is a mystery.

William - remember that the presidentwants higher gas prices and has attempted to enact legislation and is now having the EPA enat regulations that will drive gas prices up there

Kevin - what a novel concept

Jon - you may be right

Sandra - all part of the substantive change in the country he is striving for
