The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs has released $45 million to consumers through its first-time homebuyer program. Through its Texas Mortgage Credit Program, the state helps reduce a borrower's tax liability in the form of a tax credit for those who take a certified homebuyer education class. Homebuyers could save up to $2,000 in annual taxes.
