What Problem Do You Solve for Your Client - 30 Days to Social Media Results - Day 4

If you’ve been following along in the 30 Days to Social Media Results series you have clarified your business goals and you described your ideal customer.  In a few days you’ll be putting together your social media action plan.

Before starting on the plan there are two more questions that need to be answered.  The first of those questions is simple:

Before a client will hire you, you have to get past two obsticles the ego and price?

Ego is the “I can do it myself syndrome”   These are the I can sell my own home types or I’ll shop for my own mortgage.  Most people won’t hire anyone until they either failed on their own or the continued cost of failure is greater than the cost of hiring someone.

Behind the problem is Pain (usually fear) that needs to be addressed.  This is the “what if” question.  

Your marketing job is to answer both the:

1.  Ego/Money Question
2.  Problem or Fear

When you make a listing or a sale, it’s because you have successfully convinced the client that you have skills that they don’t and those skills will save them money.

You have also addressed the Fear/Pain Problem by showing them that when you solve the problem the fear and pain will go away.

Remember that Social Media is just one marketing channel that you can use to relay this message.

Results Reminder:  Put most of your marketing efforts into acheiving your number one goal.

Social Media Rule:  How will you solve your ideal clients problems.

Exercises:

1.  Write out 10 ways that you can solve your clients ego/money concerns?
2.  Write out 10 ways that the clients problem will go away by hiring you.

Melanie, thanks for stopping by.  I have all my social media clients go through this exercise.  It requires thinking in a different way, butit works.
