Milton is located next door to Canton and is the town where I grew up. Like Canton, it has a small-town feel but is easily accessible to Boston, with either the historic Red Line Trolley or various bus routes to take you to the subway into Boston.
Milton has the distinction of having recently been named as one of the top places in the country to live in Money Magazine and is home to the current Governor of Massachusetts. With an excellent school system, one of Milton's schools features a French Immersion program. This is an elementary school program where all of the classes are taught completely in French, producing well rounded and bi-lingual students. Milton is also home to the prestigious private boarding school, Milton Academy and was once home to President George H. W. Bush. Rounding out Milton's offerings is easy access to outdoor recreation, including the Blue Hills Reservation, Houghton's Pond and Cunningham Pool right within its boundaries.
Milton has historical significance as it was the location of the adoption of the Suffolk Resolves in September 1774. A precursor to the Declaration of Independence, the Suffolk Resolves were the first of a number of resolves adopted to promote non-compliance to the British rule. The Suffolk Resolves House still stands in Milton. Under the ownership and direction of the Milton Historical Society, the house is open to the public for tours.
