The Northeast, which includes my real estate territory North of Boston, Massachusetts, has been covered in snow now for the last 2 months. When the snow is up to the basketball hoop in front of my house you know it is not a great time to be showing houses! You can't find them never mind show them!
I don't know about my colleagues, but I have found the last few weeks have been very enjoyable! The buyers that I am working with are serious, not tire kickers and really are looking to take advantage of the discounted inventory! If I could just get all the sellers, who keep asking me to update their price opinions, to get out their snow shovesl and realize that the snow tracked into their kitchen might be from the feet of their happy home buyer, then I would be reallly happy! The people who are thinking real estate in this market, at this time of year, are REAL! Real sellers and real buyers make for great real estate transactions. Motivation is key and when it is cold out the buyers who are willing to hop in the car really want to get the job done! I really believe that "On Demand" movies hold more interest than trudging, slipping and crunching in the snow looking at property! Buyers who are willing to leave the comfort of their living room are going to pull the trigger and make buying decisions quickly!
Why don't more sellers take advantage of this market and get the serious buyers' attenion with new listings and price reductions? Lets get the SPRING inventory on the market!
