California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) Acting Secretary Mike Dayton welcomed today's announcement by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) that it has declared a disaster for Orange, San Bernardino and San Luis Obispo counties.

The SBA declaration makes affected homeowners, renters, business owners and non-profit organizations in those counties and the contiguous counties of Inyo, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Monterey, Riverside, San Diego and Santa Barbara eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA to help recover from losses caused by the severe winter storms, flooding, mud and debris flows that occurred between December 17, 2010 and January 4, 2011.

SBA provides low-interest disaster loans to homeowners and renters to repair or replace personal property; homeowners to repair or replace their primary residence; and for businesses of all sizes, and private, non-profit organizations to repair or replace real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and/orworking capital to continue operations.
