Spreadsheets are my thing. I keep local stats from Centralia, Chehalis, Napavine and surrounding areas on a spreadsheet I titled "Ratios" and update them monthly. My primary goal is to keep myself updated and informed on our local market. I use this spreadsheet to calculate and log the number of active single family homes, the percentage in Pending status (under contract) and number of closed sales. I started documenting this data on spreadsheets in 2006. On February 1st, 2011, Centralia had 185 Active single family listings, 30 homes in Pending status (13.9%) and had 10 sales closed during the previous 30 day window. The percentage of pending homes has slowly increased since August of this year. This is one of several spreadsheets I log data into routinely. I also keep close track of local REO and Shortsale activity, as those can be an indicator of the overall health of our housing market. I am always looking for another project.
