Stonegate Village Parker Colorado Water Rebates

The EPA estimates that the funding gap for maintaining and expanding water infrastructure in the U.S. is $533 billion. The estimate for Stonegate Village  Metropolitan District is now over $150 million.  In January 2010, the Stonegate Village Metropolitan Water District announced water rebates to help water reduction throughout the district.

As a part of the program, the district will reimburse customers for the following items up to specific amounts. The below list is a brief synopsis. Details of the program can be found at http://www.svmd.org/Rebates.html.

• $300 -   High Energy Clothes Washer  Saves 6,000 or more gallons of water per year
• $200 -   Rotary Irrigation Nozzles   Saves thousands of water per year
• $600 -   Smartscape Renovation Convert part of your grass to water saving materials.
• $500 -   Smart Evapotranspiration Controller Upgrading your irrigation controller.

The Stonegate Village Metropolitan Water District rebate program will remain open till funds are gone. The program was funded with $164,898. As of today, rebate results after 12 months include

• 158              - Applications Received
• $50,379.63   - Funds Distributed
• $114,518.37 - Rebate Funds Remaining   

By far, the most common rebate for  Stonegate Village Metropolitan Water District has been the High Efficiency Clothes washer.  Did you know that the traditional washing machine will use 40 to 47 gallons of water per cycle. High efficiency washing machines use 11 to 32 gallons of water per cycle. Energy savings with high efficiency washers are estimated at 50% to 60% each load.

Additionally, the Stonegate Village Metropolitan Water District just released a plan on the web site that was created in August 2010 for additional water savings by reducing green belt and park space with natural grasses, rock and walk ways. The goal is to be 100% efficient in the use of effluent water/ reclaimed water in the open spaces. In drought years, the effluent water for the open spaces has been supplemented with additional water from our wells.

The Stonegate Village Metropolitan Water District is working hard to conserve water and will continue to accept applications for rebates. Stonegate Village homeowners are encouraged to participate and redeem rebates while the funds are still available.
