Willcox AZ High School Fire - Help Wanted!
On January 11, 2011, a fire broke out in the Math, Science and Special Education classrooms. Also, the school resource office was destroyed. There were no reported injuries, but the loss to school materials, desks, chairs, cabinets was devastating.
I worked at a wonderful school district in rural Wisconsin for 16 years, prior to moving to Tucson, AZ. Budgets in school are tight, and nowadays, many teachers buy the supplies needed for daily instruction out of their own salaries. Wilcox is in dire need of donations.
To help, a fund has been created by a local 501(c) nonprofit organization by the name of Willcox Against Substance. In addition, Willcox-based Eurofresh Farms will match every dollar donated up to $5,000. Donations are tax-deductible, receipts are supplied.
Donations can be sent to WASA, 480 N. Bisbee Avenue, Willcox, AZ 85643, If you live in Willcox or are traveling through, you may deposit directly at the Cochise Dredit Unior of Compass Bank in Willcox, with your checks made out to WASA, and the Willcox High School Fire noted in the memo field .
Willcox High School has stood for over a century. Can you help the students of today and tomorrow? For more information, please contact Sally at 520-384-4777 or Debra at 520-384-4502.
