There is nothing cookie cutter about the housing stock in New Orleans. There is 18 th century housing to brand new. There is housing that is in very poor condition and considered blighted to magnificent St. Charles mansions. When you refer to "New Orleans" you are also referring to many diverse neighborhoods and it is a large area. The following is a snapshot for an area of New Orleans called the Garden District which is known for some for grandest estates but when you look at the statistics there is a broad range of prices and housing styles available. Many areas of New Orleans are street to street with one really wonderful street being next to a street with blighted or poor condition properties...it's just the way it is. It provides wonderful opportunities to individuals wanting to move to New Orleans and having the resources and the where with all to gut and restore a property.
