Success in Real EstateAdrian Willanger (Windermere) had commented on my last Blog that she wished that SEO was more affordable and that it needs to be focused on the more important sites rather than a bunch of obscure ones.  So as I was commenting back I started writing the following.

SEO or placement in Search Engines is very easy to do... however most look at the challenge as daunting.  Here is the quick answer....

SEO does need to become more affordable... especially on the Agent and smaller Brokerage level.  It's possible to do a good portion of your SEO by yourself with very little training and get great results.

Getting SEO value for your name, brand, website and of course your listings should always be at the forefront of your mind whenever you do anything on the web.  The best way is to make sure that you are using related keywords in every blog post, virtual tour, tweet, post on your Fan Page etc...

The best way to think about SEO is like a lottery... the more tickets you have, the greater odds of winning you have in turn.  The same goes for SEO, the more times that you mention your Name, Brand, and Website, and Trade,  the more that Google and other Search Engines will notice.  Once they start noticing you enough, they will begin to trust you enough to put you further up in the Results Pages.  I've been able to do this with my clients for the last 4 years, and have had phenomenal results.

It's important to use backlinks though with Anchor text!

For example if I were writing an article about what I do, I might have a sentence that reads:

"Virtual Tours and Social Media go hand in hand when it comes to Real Estate."

This is a great Keyword loaded sentence because it lists 3 main points about what I do.  Now I have to place links on the anchors (or keywords) so that the Search Engines can make the connection to me and my business...  Here's the new example with links:

"Virtual Tours and Social Media go hand in hand when it comes to Real Estate Marketing."

It's important to note that as a rule of thumb, link to your sites 1-2X in a post, and a related blog at least once if you can.  Be careful though, too many links in one article can hurt you if you're just linking to only yourself.  Always try to link to a related source... News stories are ideal.

Of course, there is allot more to this, but now that you're armed with this information, you should be able to make a significant dent in the market.  For SEO, the most important part of it is that your Keywords are chosen well, and used strategically.  Also don't forget the directories, Review Sites, Places, Business Listings, etc... these are all part of what your SEO company should be doing for you.

If you'd like us to help direct you towards success on getting found in the search results pages, please let me know.  We beleive in doing business completely transparent, and if you simply want some advice, we can do that too.

Thanks and I hope that this finds you well,  HAPPY MARKETING!
