January was another very difficult month for homeowners in Louisville. The median home price for Jefferson County took a major dive from $140,000 in December to $123,500 in January. This change was enough to tilt the 1-year trend line downward. Keep in mind, what is bad for current homeowners is good for home buyers who’ll have the opportunity to purchase while the market is lower.
Home sales weren’t nearly as negative but still couldn’t pass last year’s 490, coming up short with just 456 homes sold.
There’s a good chance that February, if the weather would only warm up, will beat February 2010′s number of homes sold, which was 460.
