IT'S ABOUT TIME

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Prudential Starck, Realtors®

Welcome to my first attempt at blogging.

I have been researching blogging for over 18 months.  Well, I guess you could say I really have been procrastinating.  It's one of those things that frightened me more than anything else.  "Is this a good use of my time?", "Who is really going to read this?", "What do I say?", "What don't I say?" are just a few of the questions that plagued me every time I thought about starting.  I still have no idea what I am doing when it comes to blogging, but I guess one has to start somewhere.

I was speaking with my friend & Government Affairs Director of our association, Jeff Merrinette, the other day and came to the conclusion that I just need to start.  Jeff has been blogging for a while now & in my opinion has a really good hang of it.  I sat & picked his brain for a little while & realized you can't walk until you take that first step.

This feels more like skydiving than walking however.

Add to this that my husband & business partner Dan has been making off-hand comments about how great my blog looks - blank.  At which he gets "the look".  But he is right, my excuses of being too busy have gotten a little old.  While I have been busy with clients, running the office, and all the other things that creep into our daily lives, this is something I have wanted to do.  It's Time to Dive right into it.

What can you expect?  Well, a little bit of everything and your suggestions are always welcome.  I plan to give seller & buyer points, interesting "in the trenches" stories, pointers for new agents, real estate investing tips, financing tips & other real estate related tips & stories.  Being a long-time member of our Government Affairs Committee and former Chairman of our north committee, I will share with you local, Illinois & national legislAutism Awarenessative news that pertains to real estate & homeownership (I could fill a whole other blog with just that).

I also plan to share with you one of my other passions, Autism Awareness.  As the parents of a child with an autism spectrum disorder, Dan & I have lots to share and would love to hear what you have to say.

Soooooo...Sit back, relax, laugh, scream, roll your eyes and, most of all, enjoy this great adventure with me!

Annette

Welcome Annette to the active rain world,  I am new here too and jumped right in the middle of the bed so to speak with my first blog.  You seem to be off to a good start.  I look forward to reading about autism awareness, I really know nothing about it, I'm curious.  I appreciate the opportunity to be made aware :).

Anette - just like Dena I jumped in blind too. this is a good post for your first one. just like skydiving which I have done for years. that first jump is the toughest. your heart is beating hard, its a rush, than your next one your heart doesn`t beat as much until, you are now doing you 50th, you walk up to the door make sure it is safe to jump, are if your jumping in a group everybody is ready and you jump. blogging is the same when you get to that 50th one it is easy, but you start to wonder what else can I blog about. good luck

Anette - Welcome... jump right in.   You well learn and share alot here and become part of a new "family".   I have friends with an Autistic child.  I am a big supporter of PCDI which is one of the premier schools for autistic children located in Princeton New Jersey.   There son was diagnosed at 4 no verbal skills at all and today at 10 he has been main streamed and going to his first year of public school.   Good luck to you and if you need any information I could pass along what I know.

See, didn't I tell you that it would be just fine? Look at all these supportive, encouraging comments;Activerain is a very good environment for your first blog.

Like the Activerainers above, I am looking forward to reading your blog and learning more about Autism, Annette, and your perspective on your marketplace.

Tell Dan I like your "filled" blog much better!
