Thinking of Buying or Investing in a Condo in Downtown Portland?

Downtown Portland is a vibrant urban hub.  I love my jaunts into Downtown Portland, and love to show condos -- from Montgomery Park all the way to the South Waterfront communities -- LOVE IT!!

Here's ssomething Buyers need to remember:  The Downtown Portland market is very limited to the "types" of housing available.

While there are detached homes in the immediate Downtown Portland market, they can be out of the majority of buyers' price range.

Downtown Portland is no different from any other urban downtown in that regard.  Apartments, flats, studios, condos, some attached homes, some detached.  If you want to buy in the Downtown Portland market . . . the options are: condos for many a Buyer

Downtown Portland is vibrant and doesn't roll up and go to sleep when the daily commuters go home to suburbia.

Prices are competitive now.  Inventory is good, but real estate is a "supply/demand" industry.  The finger on the pulse of condos in Downtown Portland suggests that it's a good market to consider buying into.

Carla ... I have some freinds that are thinking of Portland as a retirement opportunity ... if they make a trip ... I will be pleased to ask them to call you ... to pick your brain .... and to make that initial connection!

I sometimes wish that the first condo I bought when I was single had been in a downtown location.  How much fun would it be to be near the spot where everything happens.

Hi Lori . . . when are you headed into town?  :-)

Hey Jack -- terrific!  I've helped buyers with their relocation/retirement!  Be happy to be of service.

Hi Chris Ann . . . Downtown Portland is one of the nicest downtowns, IMHO.  Big, but not too . . . quaint and vibrant.  It's a great place.  My son (he's 24) lives downtown and loves it.

Great blog about downtown condos...I'll have to blog about our local ones since it's been awhile.  Glad Carlson loves downtown. He is young and vibrant and needs the energy to keep those creative juices of his flowing!

I’m still amazed when I go to do an inspection on a downtown condo penthouse of, say, 5,000 square feet. It costs $10 million and the HOA fees are a couple thousand a month. I just can't fathom paying those monthly fees so that some guy can open the elevator doors for me, or accompany me up the elevator, even pushing the buttons and wishing me a pleasant day. I could think of so many more things to do with that $2,000 a month!
