What camera for real estate?

By
Real Estate Agent with Florida Homes Realty & Mortgage

I've been using a Canon Digital Rebel (1st generation) for 3 -4 years maybe longer. It's been a really good camera and especially after I purchased a wide angle lens for it... 10-20mm. I've had many favorable comments throughout those years about the quality of my listing photos and the fact that I managed to get an entire room into the shot.

Well, I sold my camera! Not to despair though I bought a new one...the Canon EOS T2i AKA 550D. Mine came with an 18-55mm lens but my wide angle still works with it and I'm very excited about the expanded capabilities of this camera and the endless possibilities.

It's 18 megapixels, shoots at 3.7 fps, has a large view screen (3x2) and best of all it shoots fantastic video. Rest assured, all my free time for the next several days will be devoted to put this one to the test.

Here's the unveil...

Interesting did you ever take a breath during the video?  I want to see some photos from you when you get this thing up and running

Hi Mike,

Watched the video and you surely got a great deal by knowing the price before you went in. I'm anxious to see how the camera records video. Please post some. Thanks

Thanks for the post.  I'm with James and John and would like to see some video.  I will be upgrading my camera this year and with your review on the Cannon I will definitely put it on my list.

Congratulations on the new camera.  The price might have come down because Canon announced the T3i just a few days ago.  You've got the right body and lens, have you ventured into HDR or using a strobe?

This is the type of post we could use on the Tips and Techniques for Better Real Estate Photography group.  You're invited to post there if you'd like.

This is an awesome camera for real estate.  Youtube some of the video footage people have done with this camera and prepare to be amazed.  With the right lenses you can pull off some convincing cinema quality footage.  Now that the T3i is on the way I might just get a T2i myself once the price drops a couple hundy.  Have fun!
