Peanut Island is one of the top designated boating areas in Palm Beach. Located North of Lake Worth/Palm Beach Inlet and South of Blue Heron Bridge.
Peanut Island is a man made Island made from dredged white sand and was created over the past 80 years. Peanut Island got its name from a peanut oil shipping company that was to be housed on the island, but never came to fruition.
There is a boat dock, anchorage, designated swimming areas, snorkeling, pinic area, footpaths, restrooms, a museum and a presidential nuclear bomb shelter.
While it is fun to walk on the sand bar caution must be exercised and don't forget to keep an eye on the currents which can be strong.
The docks are free to use during the day. If you are staying at one of the paid campsites you may use the docks overnight and there is no charge.
Just across the channel is the Sail Fish Marina: There you will find the Galley Restaurant (561 848 1492) which features a seafood menu.
There is also a Ship store where you can but sandwiches, drinks and assorted sundries.
Out side the restaurant there is the added attraction of am outdoor aquarium.
There are tickets available to purchase for boat-rides to Peanut Island. It is a great fun way to spend a summer day.
Keep your boating and water sports fun by always keeping water safety in mind.
Relax and take the boat for a leisurely ride to Peanut Island
