Mar-A-Lago_celebrity home of Donald Trump and the Mar-A-Lago Club.

Mar-A-Lago, located in Palm Beach, Florida, is the former estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post.  It was purchased in 1985 by real estate developer Donald Trump and turned into the Mar-A-Lago Club.

The house has 58 bedrooms and 33 bathrooms and covers over 62,000 square feet of living space.  It also has 3 bomb shelters and 12 fireplaces.

Donald Trump opened up membership to the club for those who can afford the $125,000 initiation fee.

Trump has supposedly turned down an offer of over $200 million for the property from a wealthy Middle Eastern Sheikh.

I have been to Mar-A-Lago and it is incredibly beautiful.  (I would be happy just living in the ornate hut where they store the Croquet mallets.)

For many years prior to Trump buying the property it was for sale.  (I remember driving by the property and always seeing the ominous glass chards on the top of the wall surrounding the property.)  Trump bought it for under value and spent many millions $$$ to bring it back to it's original beauty...and then went beyond !!

Many of these homes * like the Vanderbilts' Biltmore Estate in NC * have their OWN power generating plant

The Mar-A-Lago is truly an Architectural Treasure with craftsmanship that could not be duplicated today.  From what I understand, the property is also considered to be one of the most valuable pieces of land anywhere in the state of Florida.  Donald Trump's creative genius, as well an investment of millions of dollars, has renovated and restored this elegant and legendary "Jewel" to original splendor.   It is truly a masterpiece.

Wallace, I don't know if Mar-A-Lago gas it's own power genrating plant but I know it has a huge gas generator in case of a power outage.  (Alot of homes have generators, since the hurricanes 5 years ago.  I do.)

Joyce, I agree.  And if you google the location you can see that it is located on a strategic point on Palm Beach island.

FYI- the Post family tried to donate the home and property to the U.S. government to be used as a presidential retreat..lBUT the government repeatedly refused it...because of it's strategic exposure.

John,  "Maralago" has not been sold.  Not to my knowledge.  It would be front page news here, in Palm Beach...for days.

I can't see why Trump would ever want to sell it.  He brilliantly turned it into a private club   and STILL lives there as his residence, while the club membership dues pays expenses for the property..
