Don't be afraid, they won't bite you!

Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Schwartz Realty

I was shaking in my shoes at a condo party and FORCED myself to introduce myself to strangers, tell them I was a Realtor and gave them my card with the "if you or someone you know needs a Realtor" line.

I felt it wasn't natural. Normal people don't do this.

Guess what? 6 weeks later they called me and said "We're ready". My reply, "for what", their reply "to sell our property, you said at the party you would help us".  I got the listing without further shaking, sold the property and made good friends that have sent me many referrals.

Just remember, they won't bite you! They may say no, they may look at you with disdain. Who cares! Go out there and get the business. Tell people what you do. Show them your passion.

I was so thrilled with the prospect of QR codes, that I printed them out on magnetic paper to put on my signs. I had an extra in my purse and was showing people at the Salon what they were. I asked them what they did and gave them my opinion of how the QR code could help their business.

I never asked for business, but got two transactions by virtue of enthusiasm.

I do go for it but don't often do this at a party situation, especially if hosted by someone else.  Often RE comes up in conversation, and I find a way to follow up. I try not to be too "in your face" about marketing. It certainly is a dance.

I know! I just made myself go up to them, strangers are strange, and engage them in conversation. That was the hardest part. It was easy to say what I did when we got to the "what do you do? questions.

Kathy, just know that it would never have happened if you hadn't overcome your fear and reached out. Congratulations.
