What is a 100% of nothing?

Real Estate Agent with Maximum One Realty 285630

Nothing!

So I quit my job. So I wanted to be a productive agent. No one really cared at the independent real estate company that held my license.  Sure they had nice offices and an office assistant but what else could they offer me for my $100 a month.  What type of services were I receiving? Why did I feel so alone? I did not know what I was doing my first year.  I thank God that nothing serious happened and I made it through my first year with a couple of closings.

When I got my license I did not know much about real estate firms. The only thing I knew was that I did not want to give a broker most of my money.  I thought that I could learn all I needed to know about real estate on the Internet and in books.  I was wrong. There was no magic recipe in either of those places.  No matter how much I read and tried to do it on my own.  I failed miserably.  I decided it was time to pick myself up and to start over.  I had to let go of the notion that this small company could meet my needs as a new agent.  I needed guidance.  I needed education.  I needed to learn what were systems and how was I going to build a referral business with no clients. NO matter how I looked at the situation a 100% of nothing was still nothing. I wanted to keep my hard earned money but wait I did not earn anything.  What was I afraid of in joining a larger company. (fees, commission splits...) When I took the time to think about it I had nothing to loose.

So the search began to find a new company. I began researching companies on the Internet.  The plan was to find local offices and to interview with some of the brokers.  I became my search by hoping to find a company with fees that I could afford. I also needed a company that I felt could adequately train me to become a better agent. It did not take long before I visited the Keller Williams website.  I really liked what I read about kw. I was pleasantly amazed to learn about a company that valued what I valued.

I joined kw a week ago and I am so impressed with my new company for so many reasons. I love the agents the market center and all of the learning opportunities. I love the technology that is offered to all agents. I am in love with kw. My only regret is that no kw agent ever shared the opportunity with me.  I wished that I could have given the credit to a fellow agent. I hope that I do not make the mistake of not sharing this wonderful opportunity with other agents, If anyone that reads this wants to know more about kw please email me and I will share my experiences and make sure that the right person can answer your questions. Keller Williams has a lot to offer.

Michelle, congratulations on making a positive move and welcome to Keller Williams. I started just like you and had a dismal year and half. Moving to Keller Williams has brought me more sales, more education, and more support. I echo your positive experience thus far.

Training and mentoring is so important!  Every agent's first "test" in real estate is selecting a broker..and that can be a tough choice, sometimes a series of choices.

Hi, Michelle!  I'm glad that you found a company that you feel will provide you with the support and training to be a productive agent.  I'm sure that you'd make a great mentor to new agents.  Congrats!

You are not the first agent I've heard from who is happy in their choice of KW. I'm glad it works for you.

Just because a company is small, doesn't mean they don't have the education and guidance to help their agents be successful.

When we were small,we had 1 on 1 training with our broker....now that we are much larger,(about 200 agents)we still give 1 on 1 training to whomever needs it.As the owner of the company,I go door to door doorhanging with my agents who like to do this.I can't imagine too many broker/owners going to this length.

Granted the franchise companies offer quite a bit..but you do pay for it.

That is my 2 cents!:)

Congratulations on your change and much success to you!

Michelle,

Good luck on your move. I have heard many positive things about KW!

However, I think choosing a Brokerage is different for everyone. I personally chose a small Brokerage for the independence I get. They are there if I need them, yet I work alone. For me this was the best decision. I have gotten my Broker's license and ABR and will continue to pursue further education.

I congratulate you on "knowing" your own personality and making a move to accomodate yourself, rather than quitting!

Michelle--90% of being successful in real estate is finding a good broker to start with that you enjoy working with. As one who also has been with KW for several years, it is a good fit for me as well.

Michelle- I have been interviewing with KW, and have been very impressed with what they have to offer. I am considering a change as well, because of the very reasons that you made a change. Good luck to you, and best wishes for your success!

Hi Joan: Thanks. I am already amazed at the opportunities for growth.

Hi Stephen: KW is great. I am loving every moment and opportunity.

Hi Eric: I have heard that about choosing your broker.  I wish I had listened to some of the advice. I was more concerned with commission splits than the other factors.

Hi Jon: Thanks!

Hi Don: ;>

Hi Rob: I Agree

Hi Guy: I agree, I know that, not all small companies are alike.  It is nice to hear that you believe in helping your agents to be successful.

Hi Karen: Thanks. The independence was nice but I  felt that I needed some additional services and guidance to be successful in this market.

Hi Teri: I am realizing the importance and I am enjoying the experiences.

Hi Alecia: Thanks! Good luck with your decision.

Hi Michael: I believe that it important for the company that we choose to meet our needs and is compatible with our personalities. No one company could do this for all of us.
