Give Your Halifax Fireplace a Hot New Look

Halifax FireplaceWhen selling your Halifax home, you want all the great assets in your home to stand out. So naturally, you want to draw attention to your fireplace, especially with the cold weather outside. However, real wood-burning fireplaces can be messy and leave a smoky odor when potential buyers walk through your home. Fake logs can look, well, too fake.

Why not update your fireplace with a growing trend - to fill it with recycled, reflective glass. It's clean, easy to install and pretty to look at. Plus, a great added benefit for you is that the materials heat up quickly and give off a little more warmth than traditional fireplaces.

The reflective glass looks great and is easy to work with but can be costly depending on your choices. Installing the right kind of burner (similar to one you'd use for fake logs) and the material overlay will allow a variety of flames to shoot up from beneath the glass - giving it a realistic look. You do need to use specially manufactured glass that is readily available. Do not attempt to put ordinary glass in your fireplace; it can come jumping out into the room as it heats.

When dealing with fire, it's smart to consult an expert. If the fireplace in your Halifax home is set up to burn real wood and has a natural gas starter log in it, an expert can tell you how it will need to be modified before you can install the glass. Conversely, if you have a gas fireplace, an expert will explain the many codes for gas fireplaces before any modification is done.

You have a lot of choices when changing your fireplace to this hot new look. There are many different types and shapes of burners, including pipes and pans that you can purchase. You can usually see pictures of the flame pattern to get an idea which one will give your fireplace the best look. You will also need sand, small lava rocks, fireplace paint and, of course, the specially manufactured glass.

The glass itself is offered in many different colors, and price varies depending on type and color. Once smart trick for saving money is to use sand and small lava rocks as the base layer underneath the glass. This fills up the fireplace and then only a thin layer of the glass is needed to create the unique look.

If you choose to do the work yourself instead of having an expert install the glass and accessories, there are steps to follow for installing your new reflective glass fireplace. However, you can get as creative as you dare to really showcase your home.

It certainly isn't an "ordinary" update, but then again, how often do potential buyers want just an "ordinary" home? You can offer something other homes for sale won't have and really make your home stand out above the rest.

Light your fire and enjoy the attention it grabs as potential buyers marvel at the unique look and warmth it gives off when Roy Thomas shows your home.
