What's Your Favorite Baseball Movie ?

By
Real Estate Agent with KW Elite

There have been a lot of very good baseball movies produced through out the years ! It's actually very hard to rank them in order of favorites ! I have almost a virtual tie in first and second place ! I'm gonna give a slight edge to "The Natural" over the equally great " Field of Dreams". Both movies actually have an emotional affect on me and I viewed them numerous times !

Other good baseball movies would include:

       1. Ronald Reagan's - Grover Cleveland Alexander

       2. The Dizzy Dean Story

       3. Major League (comedy)

       4. Bull Duram

       5. The Babe

       6. Damn Yankees

       7. Jackie Robinson's Movie(staring Jackie )

I feel I've left out several others ! Please share your favorites and add to my list !

One of my favorites is 61* which was actually an HBO movie by Billy Crystal about Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle and the chase for the single season home run record.

Field of Dreams hands down...  My son and I watch it at the beginning of every season.  As he heads off to college next fall, I have to find a way to keep the tradition going!

For the Love of the Game was an under appreciated sports film.  Also, the fictionalized "true" story of Jim Morris, the Texas high school baseball coach who pitched for Tampa Bay. And Bull Durham is a classic.

Michael that's a great list you put up.  I would have to add 61* about Maris and Mantle chasing the Babe's home run record.

One underrated baseball movie I love is Bang the Drum Slowly, one of DiNiro's earlier works from 1973. It is a pre-free agentcy movie and the main character sells insurance in the off season!

I need to say The Natural. Many of the scenes seemed to be from dreams I had when I was growing up.

I love baseball, most likely because my grandfather played for the Cincinnati Reds in the 1930's and was in 2 World Series.  You have a complete list of baseball films, but you did miss one . . "Greenberg" about Detroit Tiger Hank Greenberg.  Glad to have baseball season upon us.  Play ball!

"Most agents claim they're #1 - I THINK YOU'RE #1!

There are too many. For the Love of the Game. Major League was hilarious. Bull Durham. They used to have actors who never played baseball, but Kevin Costner, Tom Selleck, and several others make things more believable.

I've seen all the ones mentioned and will watch Field of Dreams, Angels in the Outfield, For the Love of the Game, Major League and just about any if they are on.  I love that a Baseball movie can make me feel like it's summer even in the middle of winter.
