spacehouseMore “bang for your buck,” more house for your money, a great value...whatever words you want to use, it all leads to the same place. Home buyers want to get what they feel is the best value for their money. The criteria changes from buyer to buyer, but one thing is constant: space.

People want space. Even if the home or condo is on the small side, it will appeal to buyers more if it feels as spacious as possible. Here are some simple tips to open up our home and make the most of available space in the eyes of prospective buyers:

Clean up any clutter. The most obvious solution with the most immediate results is often the most overlooked solution, as well. Let's face it, most of us don't exactly enjoy cleaning up clutter but it can make a huge difference in the way prospective buyers view the home. Newspapers, figurines, miscellaneous countertop clutter...clear them away and see the difference!

Choose bright or lighter colored paints for the walls. It's amazing how something as simple as lighter colors will make any room feel more open.

Remove all furniture you can temporarily do without. This is probably the hardest one for most sellers, because it's the one that can have the most impact in changing your comfortable routines. Just remember that putting this furniture in storage is temporary and will naturally open up space in any room.

Remember, even a large house can feel less open and spacious if these things aren't taken into consideration.
