I went to the Chicago Auto Show last night...it was a great one this year! Going on a Tuesday night was the way to do it. Not too many people, but the excitement factor and vibe were great. My favorite realistic car was the Volvo AWD S60....I WANT THAT CAR. Some of the crazy awesome ones were the Audi R8, and the Mercedes AMG...things to dream of!
What I really noticed was the marketing and displays that went into creating the visuals for each booth at the show. Simply amazing!
There was the luxury cars, with the thick carpets and fancy ladies.
Then the vanilla and let me say boring, Toyota, both vehicles and display.
You had the IQ with its quirky display.
The Scion booth had the presenters walking around in khaki shorts and tights appealing to the younger crowd, with booming music and flashy lights like you would be clubbing while shopping for a car.
Then the Sleek, sophisticated Audi section...always classy and modern.
Subaru had their Outback up on a hill with trees and rocks showcasing its off road image. I wanted to throw a kayak up on top and drive away!
The Chevy Volt display made me feel homey, like I might save a lot of trees if I bought that car.....
I began thinking....what does MY brand say to my audience? What am I telling people about myself and my business by the way I dress, the way I speak, the materials I hand out to them? What is the tone of my office when a new client enters through my door? Does my product or service match up with what I am trying to convey?
I believe that branding is important, it creates an impression and a judgment. It can help people feel as if they are part of something bigger...something beyond just buying a home or getting a loan. Plus its fun to create that! It can influence people and bring about intense loyalty...look at Chevy truck owners or Saab owners...they are intensely loyal and even have stickers proving their loyalty!
I left the show thinking about the clients I have and the clients I want to have....do I reflect who I would like to work with? Hmmmm....things to think about!
